Temporary road closure
WELLAND – A road rehabilitation project is temporarily closing Regional Road 84 (Doan’s Ridge Road) November 17, 18 and 19. Motorists and the general public are advised that Doan’s Ridge Road will be temporarily closed to through traffic on a block by block basis from 7 am. to 7 pm weather permitting.
The road closure is necessary to pave the road surface from Regional Road 47 (Lyon’s Creek Road) to Regional Road 84 (Miller Road).
The posted detour route for the closure is Regional Road 27 (East Main Street) to Hwy. 140 to Regional Road 58A (Townline Tunnel Road).
Horticultural society to hold election
Membership will be going over reports for the year and holding elections for officers.
Guest speaker is Sandi Marr whose topic will be Decorative Porch Pots.
Ho, ho, ho Santa Parade in Rose City.
WELLAND – The city’s Santa Claus parade is being held Saturday, November 21.
The parade will march off at 4pm sharp from the Canadian Tire Financial Services parking lot (corner Wellington & East Main Streets) and head west on East Main to the Civic Square where Santa will turn on the Christmas lights and the Childrens’ After Party will take place. All ages welcome!
Fall vendor fair
WELLAND – A fall vendor fair is being held tomorrow, Saturday, November 14 from 10 am to 2 pm at Alexander Kuska Catholic School, 333 Rice Rd., Welland.
Sponsored by the school’s Catholic School Council, it will feature more than 30 local vendors, Niagara Mad Science presentation and a visit from Santa Claus.
Research family history at Welland library
WELLAND – Looking to connect with your past? Is it all on Ancestry or is it somewhere else? Come join us for an opportunity to learn about family history and genealogy research. No experience needed – this event is open to all levels and will be held on Tuesday, November 17 from 7 to 8:30 pm at Welland public library, main branch.
Steve Fulton UE of the Niagara Peninsula Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will be hosting this evening program and demonstrating various research tools.

Anna Olson featured at Eastdale event
WELLAND – Eastdale Secondary School is presenting an evening with Anna Olson, Thursday, November 19 at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 and are available at the school or at the event.
Fundraiser for local hospital

Quit Smoking Workshop In Welland
WELLAND – The Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients Program offers eligible participants in Niagara five weeks of cost-free nicotine replacement therapy and smoking cessation information to help them in their quit attempt.
Eligible participants will attend an educational session and receive a five-week course of nicotine patches.
