Refugee Settlement group to meet

WELLAND – The Welland Refugee Settlement Committee (a concerned group of citizens hoping to sponsor a refugee family of four to Welland) has their next meeting Sunday, November 22 at noon, at Central United Church. All are welcome.

 Ho, ho, ho Santa Parade in Rose City.

WELLAND – The city’s Santa Claus parade is being held tomorrow, Saturday, November 21.

The parade will march off at 4pm sharp from the Canadian Tire Financial Services parking lot (corner Wellington & East Main Streets) and head west on East Main to the Civic Square where Santa will turn on the Christmas lights and the Childrens’ After Party will take place. All ages welcome!

Residential lighting contest starts; nominate your neighbour

WELLAND – The Welland Winter Lights Committee invites you to show off your winter spirit! In keeping with energy conservation best practices, all houses entered must use energy efficient lighting (Exclusively LED or fluorescent lights). Houses will be judged on the following criteria: Balance/Suitability • Colour/Special • Innovation/Creativity/Fun • Buzz” Factor

Do you have a beautifully lit house in your neighbourhood? Nomination forms are being accepted as of November 16 at Civic Square (60 East Main Street) and the Welland Community Wellness Complex (145 Lincoln Street).

Bus tours will take place on December 14 & 15. Enjoy the best Welland has to offer as you and your family tour the city enjoying the breathtaking lights! Christmas carols, apple cider and treats provided for all.

Downtown BIA wants your brain

WELLAND – Welland Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA) board invites all members of the downtown BIA and all those interested in attending its Brainstorming session with regards to events and promotions of downtown Welland.

The meeting is Tuesday, November 24 at Welland Museum, 140 King St., at 5:30 p.m. The meeting is to get suggestions about possible new events in the downtown and to get suggestions about current events. More info, 289-241-4599.
