WELLAND – Christmas at the Welland market is on Saturday, December 19 from 9am to 11am.

Lots of great stuff including: crafts, visit with Santa!!, gingerbread house contest!!, more. Bring your kids, bring your grandkids, bring yourselves.

Get your cameras out this holiday season and snap some photographs.

 Limited access to library catalogue December 12-14

dataWELLAND -The My Account features of Welland Public Library’s catalogue will not be available from Monday, December 14 until Wednesday, December 16 as the library moves to a new server.

You will still be able to search the catalogue during the move, but renewals and new holds will not be possible. Email notification for holds and pre-overdue notices will also be suspended during the move.

To renew your items during this time, please call 905-734-6210 ext. 2520, or bring your items in to be renewed at the Circulation desk.

Library staff will not beable to place holds during the move. The library apologizes for the inconvenience but look forward to going live on Thursday, December 17.

Candlelight Christmas Service of Hope

WELLAND – A memorial service to celebrate and remember the lives of those we loved and cherished is once again being held this Christmas season with local clergy from various churches.

All are welcome to attend on Wednesday December 16 at 7pm at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, on Devon Street in Welland.

 The Heart of Christmas

WELLAND – The Heart of Christmas, a Christmas musical to benefit Rose City Kids, is being held Sunday, December 20, 2pm at Rose City Kids, 99 East Main Street, Welland.

Free will offering. The event is presented by the Winger Church of Christ (Disciples) choir.

 Library starts registration for winter programs

winter programsWELLAND – Winter programs at Welland Public Library will begin the week of January 11. Registration for these programs begins today, Saturday, December 12.

There are programs for infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers and school-age children.

Writers Gathering returns January 24

writersWELLAND – The Writers Gathering at Welland Public Library is a group of creative individuals who wish to openly share ideas, discuss work in progress, and ultimately, have fun! This group is open to everyone aged 14 and up.

This program will return on Sunday, January 24 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. No registration is required.

Meet at the island’s parking lot at 7:30am for a 40-minute walk.

Tickets available for soup fundraiser

WELLAND – Tickets are now being sold for the 14th annual Soup’s On!, a popular fundraiser held at the Parish Community of St. Kevin, 303 Niagara Street.

The event is on Friday, January 29, 2016 with seatings at 11 am, noon and 1pm. Tickets are $10 per person and can be bought from the parish office Monday through Friday 9am. to 5pm.

 City’s 15th annual Childrens New Year’s Eve Bash

WELLAND – Come and enjoy FREE family fun and entertainment on New Year’s Eve. Two locations, twice the fun!

The celebration is at Welland Community Wellness Complex and the Welland Main Arena from 4pm to 6pm. Join in outside, along the canal bank, for a thrilling fireworks display at 5:50pm. More info, 905-735-1700 ext 4000
