WELLAND – The following post appears on the city’s Civic Corner page. The procedure explained below is about public input into two city budgets: Proposed 2016 operating budget and proposed 2016-2025 capital budget and forecast.
This is good practice by the City of Welland, in my view. Don’t know how long it has been in use in the budgetary process; regardless, just want to say: well done city staff and politicians.
NOTICE OF 2016 OPERATING & 2016-2025 CAPITAL BUDGETS
Take notice that the City of Welland Budget Review Committee will be holding an open meeting to obtain input from members of the public regarding the 2016 Operating and 2016-2025 Capital Budgets. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 60 East Main Street, Welland.
The following information will be available on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at no cost, at the City of Welland, Finance Division, 60 East Main Street, Welland, Ontario, and also on the City’s website at www.welland.ca:
- Proposed 2016 Operating Budget
- Proposed 2016-2025 Capital Budget & Forecast
Any person who attends has the opportunity to make a presentation with respect to the 2016 Operating & 2016-2025 Capital Budgets. In order for Council to hear from as many residents as possible, presentations are limited to 10 minutes per presenter.
For recordkeeping purposes, if you have a written record of your presentation, please submit a copy to the Clerk at the meeting. If you are unable to attend the public meeting, you can provide written comments to the City Clerk at 60 East Main Street, Welland, ON, L3B 3X4 or via e-mail at email@example.com.
