Welland’s Paul Turner is the 2016 recipient of Regional Niagara’s T. Roy Adams Humanitarian of the Year award. Turner was paid tribute at Thursday evening’s meeting of Regional council. From left: Tim Rigby, chair of the award committee; Turner; and Regional chair Alan Caslin. T. Roy Adams was an eminent Niagaran, well known throughout the Region, Canada, and abroad for his service to God, his country and his fellow citizens. In memory of the late councillor, Niagara Region initiated a memorial award in 2003 in his name to honour a resident of Niagara who best exemplifies his values and dedication to community service; a person who sees volunteerism as an integral part of their life. Turner was given a standing ovation by councilors and staff following the presentation and citation. Below: Turner is shown with proud daughter Jaclyn who accompanied him to the meeting. Story, additional photo,  to follow on the blog Friday. (Photos by Joe Barkovich)
