Owen was 22 when he passed away in a tragic car accident, on September 30, 2008. Since 2009, the love of his friends and family has been brought to life in the form of Owenpalooza, an annual benefit music festival held at Club Richelieu in Welland. This year marks the eighth Owenpalooza, which is always held at the end of July, on the Saturday closest to Owen’s birthday. This year, the show takes place on Saturday, July 23, starting at 6pm.  OWENPALOOZA ROCKS THE HOUSE

WELLAND – Owenpalooza 2016 is on Saturday July 23 at Club Richelieu, Welland. The popular memorial benefit concert this year features: IvoryHours, UKAE, NORTHCOTE, Bratwurst Days, The Fortune Runners, Revive The Rose, Jeff Beadle, Gatta Sisters.

Tickets are $20 each available at The Rex, Seaway Mall, M.T. Bellies in Welland or email owenpalooza@gmail.com or call 905-932-6936 must be 19+ doors open at 6pm.

Owenpalooza is an annual memorial benefit concert bringing Canadian bands and a great party to Welland. Enjoy music, food trucks, cold drinks and a free ride home anywhere in Niagara.

 ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN CITY THIS WEEKEND

WELLAND – ROWONTARIO Championships are scheduled here July 23-24 at the Welland International Flatwater Centre South Course. The event is hosted by ROWONTARIO and the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation. It has 720 entries from 32 rowing clubs.

WELLAND – A heat warning is in effect for: Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region; St. Catharines – Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region

An extended period of hot and humid weather will arrive Thursday and continue through the weekend. Humidex values will approach 40 degrees at times. Ugh! Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

MISS DAR’S HOLDS DANCE DEMO

 TORONTO FC HOSTS WELLAND SOCCER CLUB DAY

WELLAND –Mayor Frank Campion is leading a contingent of Welland soccer kids on to the Toronto FC field as the club celebrates Welland Soccer Club day on Saturday, July 23.In Toronto FC’s desire to boost soccer across the Niagara Region, a portion of Toronto FC ticket sales is being donated to the Welland Soccer Club.

Just before the team hosts DC United in the 730 pm game against DC United, Mayor Campion and 20 youth soccer players from Welland (to be selected) will carry Toronto FC banners on to the field.Tickets are available by calling the Welland Soccer Club at 905-735-8106.
