Heat Warning in effect for:
- Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region
- St. Catharines – Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region
The mid summer heat episode will continue for the weekend. Daytime temperatures will reach the low thirties. Afternoon humidex values will be in the mid to upper thirties. Overnight lows will remain in the low twenties, providing little relief from the heat.
A weak cold front will move through Monday. In its wake, the weather will continue to be very warm, although somewhat less humid, with temperatures and humidex values remaining just below the heat warning threshold. Depending on the timing of the front, the heat warning may be extended to Monday.
Frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated.
Never leave people or pets in your care inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.
Take cool showers or baths until you feel refreshed.
Prepare meals that don’t need to be cooked in your oven.
