CHILDREN’S AUTHOR ANNA DEWDNEY MOURNED
WELLAND – It’s a sad day for children’s literature. Renowned children’s author Anna Dewdney has passed away at the age of 50, after a 15 month battle with cancer. She will be missed. Her amazing books had children loving the Llama Llama character and learning too.

FIND DORY IN CHIIPAWA PARK
WELAND – Join the Welland & District SPCA in watching a movie under the stars! A large screen will be set up in Chippawa Park this evening, September 9, and friends, supporters and community members are invited to come and enjoy watching “Finding Dory” . Approximate start time for the movie will be at sundown, around 8pm. Food and concession will be made available during the event as well, and though we all love our furry friends, we do ask for the viewing enjoyment of everyone, it may be best to leave the pooch at home. Come and support your local community, and the Welland SPCA. Admission is free, although we will have a recommended donation and kindly accept any generosity and support offered.
DROP IN AT THE LIBRARY LOUNGE
WELLAND – This evening, September 9, the WPL hosts The Library Lounge: An Evening of Wine and Live Music. Doors open at 7:30pm.
Enjoy an evening of live music, Niagara wines, light fare and a silent auction. Proceeds from this special event assist in the purchase of new technology for the Library.
Tickets are $20.00 per person and can be purchased at the Main Branch of the Library.

WELLAND – Streaming is now available! Welland Public Library patrons will have access to Freegal Music Streaming. With this service, each and every patron of the Library, in addition to their five downloads per week, can also stream up to 3 hours of music per day.

WELLAND – There will be many, many books at attractive prices at the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Annual Book Sale! And not just books, but games, puzzles, CDs, DVDs, and magazines, too! Mark your calendar—the book sale will be Saturday, October 1, from 9am to 3pm, at the Niagara Regional Exhibition Grounds (Welland Fairgrounds). Donations can be dropped off at the fairgrounds from Wed, Sept. 28 until Friday, September 30, 9am til 3pm.
LIVE CONCERTS AT WELLNESS CENTRE
WELLAND – The Friday Night Live concert series starts in September at the Welland Community Wellness Complex, 145 Lincoln St. Scheduled performers include: Debbie Frappier, September 30; Nicole Cerminara, October 21; and Sammi Morelli, November 25. The free performances, held in the theatre, get underway at 7pm.
