NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR THE 2017 T. ROY ADAMS HUMANITARIAN AWARD
WELLAND – Nominations are now open for the 2017 T. Roy Adams Humanitarian of the Year Award.
The award honours the memory of the late Councillor T. Roy Adams and is presented annually to a current resident of Niagara who best exemplifies Roy’s values and dedication to community service; a person who sees volunteerism as an integral part of their life. Last year’s winner was Welland resident Paul Turner.
Residents can view criteria for the award and submit nominations online at niagararegion.ca/government/awards-bursaries. Nominations are open until March 31, 2017.

INTRODUCING THE INNOVATION STATION
WELAND – The Innovation Station has arrived at Welland Public Library! The station includes public access to the 3D printer, a scanner for old slides and photos, and a VHS to digital converter; it is located at the former Information Desk. Come on in to check it out! Two staff members will be on hand at the main desk to answer all of your questions and provide any assistance that you may need.
AUTISM INFO SESSION AT DIAMOND TRAIL
WELLAND – LB Brown from Autism Ontario will provide families and members of the public with information on available resources for parents and caregivers of individuals on the autism spectrum. This information session will take place at the Diamond Trail Branch on Tuesday, January 24th at 6pm. This is a free program with limited space so please register ahead.

WELLAND – The Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients Program (STOP) offers eligible participants in Niagara five weeks of cost-free nicotine replacement therapy and smoking cessation information to help them in their quit attempt.
Eligible participants will: Attend an educational session and, receive a five-week course of nicotine patches. The workshop date is January 19, in Thorold.Call 905-688-8248 ext. 7240 to find out if you are eligible and to register for a workshop.

WELLAND – Do too many cooks spoil the broth? Not at Soup’s On!, a popular soup luncheon fundraiser, where seven soup prep teams will serve a variety of soups in aid of a social justice scholarship.
At Soup’s On!, the consensus is: Every ‘ladle bit’ helps!
The event takes place Friday, January 27, at St. Kevin’s parish hall. Tickets are $10 per person. Three servings are held during each Soup’s On!: 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. The noon serving is sold out.
Tickets for Soup’s On! are available from the parish office, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m., to 5 p.m. They are also sold before and after weekend Masses at St. Kevin: 5 p.m. Saturday, and 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday.Only a few tickets remain, get yours today!
