MEMORIAL PARK REDEVELOPMENT PLAN

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ON COMMITTEES
WELLAND – The City of Welland is looking to fill volunteer positions on three committees. These include:
Active Transportation Advisory Committee, six member-at-large positions;
Welland Community Wellness Complex Advisory Committee, one member-at-large position;
Welland Farmers’ Market vendor positions on the Market Square Advisory Committee, two positions.
Applications must be received in the Office of the City Clerk on or before 4:30pm, Tuesday, Feb 21.Applications and info are available on the city’s website.
RIVER KEEPERS HOLD AGM
WELLAND – Welland River Keepers have scheduled their annual meeting Tuesday, February 21, 7 p.m. at Welland Civic Square, Room 108.
The River Keepers carry out a variety of duties including planting trees, shrubs and wild flowers along the river, working with other groups of similar interests and holding nature walks, hikes and tours.
Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and learn more about the organization.
WHAT’S OPEN, CLOSED AT NIAGARA COLLEGE ON FAMILY DAY
WELLAND –Niagara College will be closed for Family Day on Monday, February 20, with limited access to campus facilities. Students accessing classrooms or specialized labs at the Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake Campuses must have faculty authorization and sign in with Campus Safety (security).
The NC Libraries will be closed on Family Day, but access to all online resources will be available via the libraries’ website at www.niagaracollege.ca/library
Cafeterias, SAC offices and Student Centres, and athletic facilities at all campuses are closed on Family Day.
Bookstores at both campuses will be closed Family Day, with online shopping available at www.efollet.com
Benchmark Restaurant will be open Saturday, February 18 for dinner, and closed Sunday, Feb. 19 and Family Day. Bench To Go will be closed at 3:30 pm on Friday, February 17 and will reopen at 8 am on Tuesday, February 21.
Retail stores at the NC Teaching Winery and NC Teaching Brewery are open 11 am to 5 pm on Family Day.
The NC Greenhouse and Benchmarket will be closed on Family Day.
NC Employment and Training Solutions at One St. Paul Street in St. Catharines will be closed on Family Day.

NOMINATIONS FOR 2017 T. ROY ADAMS HUMANITARIAN AWARD
WELLAND – Nominations are now open for the 2017 T. Roy Adams Humanitarian of the Year Award.
The award honours the memory of the late Councillor T. Roy Adams and is presented annually to a current resident of Niagara who best exemplifies Roy’s values and dedication to community service; a person who sees volunteerism as an integral part of their life.
Last year’s winner was Welland resident Paul Turner.
Residents can view criteria for the award and submit nominations online at niagararegion.ca/government/awards-bursaries. Nominations are open until March 31, 2017. Roy Adams was an eminent Niagaran, well known throughout the Region, Canada, and abroad for his service to God, his country and his fellow citizens. WELLAND – A great way to spend the Family Day holiday – at Family Fun Day, February 20. It’s from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Welland Community Wellness Complex, 145 Lincoln St.
Some of the events/activities: Club Rex Dinosaur Presentation 10:30am, Reptile Kingdom Travelling Road Show 12:30pm, Drumfit presentation, giant pirate ship inflatable, pre-school playzone, face painting, carnival game, pickleball and more.

WELLAND – A Family Day free skate is being held February 20 at Welland’s main arena. It’s from 10:30a.m. to 12:30pm and 1pm to 3pm.
