MARCH BREAK AT NIAGARA COLLEGE
WELLAND –The week of February 27 through March 3 is March break at Niagara College. There are no classes scheduled during the break for students. There are date exceptions for the following programs: Civil Engineering Technician (Level 01) and Construction Engineering Technology (Level 04) – Break runs April 24 – April 28 ; Practical Nursing (Level 04) – No break.

TAX CLINICS REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
WELLAND – Beginning in March, Welland Public Library will once again host Income Tax Clinics for people with low and fixed incomes.
Clinics will be conducted by volunteers from the CRA Volunteer Tax Service and from the Niagara District Chartered Accountants Association; they will be held primarily at the Main Branch, with one clinic held at the Diamond Trail Branch.
All clinics are available by appointment only. The Library will begin taking appointments on Tuesday, February 21 at 9:00 am. To book your appointment, please call 905-734-6210 ext 2521.

GREEK CATHOLIC PATRIARCH VISITS WELLAND CHURCH
WELLAND – Sviatoslav Shevchuk, patriarch of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, will visit St. John the Baptist Hungarian Greek Catholic Church, 111 Second St., Welland on Saturday, February 25. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 9am followed by reception and light breakfast.
Patriarch Shevchuk’s visit will also take him to other parishes in Niagara.

NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR ADAMS HUMANITARIAN AWARD
WELLAND – Nominations are now open for the 2017 T. Roy Adams Humanitarian of the Year Award.
The award honours the memory of the late Councillor T. Roy Adams and is presented annually to a current resident of Niagara who best exemplifies Roy’s values and dedication to community service; a person who sees volunteerism as an integral part of their life.
Last year’s winner was Welland resident Paul Turner.
Residents can view criteria for the award and submit nominations online at niagararegion.ca/government/awards-bursaries.
