Lamb, Pork Barbecue For Mother’s Day

WELLAND – A popular tradition observed by local Croatians is going ahead again this year.

DSC_4839 (3)The annual Mother’s Day lamb and pork barbecue is being held, you guessed it, on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14 at the Croatian National Home.

The event is organized by Welland Lodge 617, Croatian Fraternal Union of America.

Six lambs and two pigs will be prepared in the barbecue pit on the spacious grounds of the hall, located on Broadway Avenue.

This is a takeout event only, food is not eaten on site.

The price of both lamb and pork is $36 per kilo.

Best time to arrive is between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., said Ann Simunic, a member of Lodge 617 and a long-time volunteer at the event.  The meat is expected to be ready for sale by 11 a.m. but it pays to be there a little ahead of time.

The barbecue is open to the community, not just members of the local Croatian community.
