WELLAND – City of Welland staff are in full operations preparing city parks and sports fields for the spring and summer seasons. After extraordinary heavy rainfalls during the month of May, staff are prioritising grass cutting maintenance in order of high to low priority.
Public Works is currently maintaining the city’s sports fields, major parks, corner lot streets, and city cemeteries as high priority. Staff are then maintaining other city lands, such as secondary parks, canal trails, and vacant lots on a lower priority basis.
Public Works staff appreciate the patience and cooperation from city residents and businesses during the city’s spring maintenance, and encourage everyone to enjoy city parks and green spaces.
Staff also remind park users that due to high precipitation in Niagara, mosquitoes and ticks are present; therefore, extra precaution is necessary. Park users should wear long sleeve clothing and use repellants when required.
