TWO SEATS OPEN ON CITY COMMITTEES
WELLAND – The city is looking to fill volunteer positions on two committees. There is one resident-at-large position on the transit advisory committee, and one citizen opening for the senior citizens advisory committee.

WELLAND – District School Board of Niagara is seeking a volunteer community member to serve on its audit committee.

TAIZE PRAYER SERVICE
WELLAND – Taize Prayer for Pentecost will be held at St. Kevin Church, Niagara St., on Tuesday, June 6, at 7:30pm. The prayer service is open to the community.
Taize prayer is held four times annually at the Welland parish: Advent, Lent, Pentecost and Thanksgiving.
VELVETONES HAVE SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT!
WELLAND – The popular singing group, the Velvetones, hold their spring concert Sunday, June 4, 2pm at Welland Community Wellness Complex. Come help celebrate Canada’s 150th in the Theatre at the Wellness Complex. Enjoy soloist, duets and ensembles. Door prizes and refreshments are included in the ticket price. WELLAND – Farmers’ Market in the Seaway Mall front parking lot resumes Monday, June 5. Held every Monday afternoon from 2pm to 7pm, it features farmers, crafters and food trucks – all local vendors.

WELLAND – The 2017 music series Jammin’ at the downtown market is set to make its debut this month. The popular program begins Saturday, June 17 featuring B4 Midnight.

WELLAND – A strawberry social luncheon is being held Friday, June 9 from 11am to 12:30pm at the Welland Community Wellness Complex. Tickets are $11 for passholders and $12 for non-passholders.
CANOE RENTAL PROGRAM BACK IN BUSINESS
WELLAND – Welland’s popular canoe rental program has started up for the season at the PenFinancial Credit Union Flatwater Centre.
Canoes, solo kayaks, tandem kayaks, standup paddle boards and pedal boats are available for rent at the site. The centre is open 10am to 6pm on weekends in June and September. During July and August the centre is open weekdays as well, from 11am to 6pm. More info, including fees and age policy, is available on the city’s website.
