CUSTOMER ALERT FROM WELLAND HYDRO!
WELLAND – Welland Hydro-Electric System Corp. has received information from several customers about calls being received asking for information about the Fair Hydro Plan bill insert from their July invoice and then requesting a scheduled home inspection to assess the efficiency of your furnace and/or central air conditioner. The caller will claim to be from the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) and/or be affiliated with Welland Hydro. Pressure tactics will be used to have you schedule a home inspection quickly. Do not let these people into your home as this is a scam.

BINGO, ELIMINATION DRAW TO RAISE FUNDS FOR IRISH HOOPSTERS
WELLAND – Having accepted an invitation to play in a holiday hoops tournament in south Florida, Notre Dame senior boys basketball team is holding a bingo fundraiser in September.
The bingo is one of two fundraisers scheduled for fall. The date is Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Delta Bingo, Niagara Falls. Tickets are $15 which includes two single books which contain regular games and the regular jackpot only. Also one $5 voucher for use in the Tap Tix machines.

The second fundraiser is an elimination draw evening. More details will be released at a later date.
The senior Irish will be in the All-Catholic New Year’s Holiday Tournament in Miami the first week of January 2018. The tourney is being hosted by Belen Jesuit Prep School. The eight-team tournament features six south Florida teams, a team from New York City, and the Irish.

WELLAND – Join certified yoga teacher Rose Kobelka for a monthly calming morning yoga class, Saturday, July 22, on the lawn overlooking the canal at the Welland Library. Morning Yoga on the Lawn is a beginner yoga class but is open to all experience levels. Please come dressed in appropriate outdoor yoga attire. In the event of rain, the class will meet in the Community Room of the Civic Square.

CANOE RENTAL PROGRAM OPEN WEEKDAYS, WEEKENDS
WELLAND – Welland’s popular canoe rental program is in full swing for the season at the PenFinancial Credit Union Flatwater Centre. Canoes, solo kayaks, tandem kayaks, standup paddle boards and pedal boats are available for rent at the site.
The centre is open 10am to 6pm on weekends June to September. During July and August the centre is open weekdays from 11am to 6pm.
