STUDENTS SERVE UP CRAFT BREWS
ST. CATHARINES – The public will have an opportunity to sample what’s on tap from Canada’s next generation of brewmasters at Project Brew Beer Expo 150.
The Canadian sesquicentennial summer exhibition of student-made craft beer is hosted by students in the final semester class of Niagara College’s Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program today (Friday, August 11), 5:30pm to 9:30pm at St. Catharines Market Square, 50 Church St., St. Catharines.
Students will present a selection of 17 beer styles that have been locally developed and produced at the NC Teaching Brewery – with a Canadian twist. The Expo 150 theme was selected as a tribute to Canada’s 150th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of Montreal’s Expo 67. The students have each selected a different Canadian-themed icon to identify their beer and themselves as a brewer.
Faculty advisor April Tyrrell noted that the event is an opportunity for the public to sample unique, locally developed and often experimental small batch beers from the College’s Teaching Brewery; and for graduating students to showcase what they have learned.
