WELLAND – The City of Welland has re-opened the temporary road closure on Canal Bank Street, between Sixth and Seventh Streets. The closure was due to a vehicular accident which left the Canal Bank Rail Bridge with potential structural damage.
The closure was issued at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, and was in effect until 1:30 p.m. while CN Rail conducted a full investigation. CN Rail deemed the Canal Rail Bridge safe and commenced train traffic. Canal Bank Street is now open and safe for public usage.
