Campaigns Address Gender-Based Violence

Saturday night, Nov. 25, the Welland Main Street Bridge shone Purple and Orange in recognition of the #16DaysOfActivism Why these colours? Purple and Orange represent two powerful campaigns addressing gender-based violence.

๐Ÿ’œThe Purple symbolizes the Wrapped in Courage initiative by the Ontario Association of Interval & Transition Houses, advocating for increased services and awareness about violence against women. In November, wear a purple scarf, attend local events, and take action for social change because #purpleisforeveryone. https://wrappedincourage.ca/about-us/

๐ŸงกOrange represents the United Nations Orange the World Campaign, part of the UNITE initiative to end violence against women globally. This multiyear effort, launched in 2008, calls on governments, organizations, and individuals to unite against the pandemic of violence. Join the #NoExcuse campaign during the 16 Days of Activism (25 Nov – 10 Dec 2023) to invest urgently in preventing violence against women and girls. https://www.unwomen.org/…/ending-violence…/unite/toolkit

Together, let’s create a world free from gender-based violence.
