Irish, Marauders Meet in Championship

WELLAND –Two old foes will go at it in the Tribune Boys Basketball Tournament championship game Saturday at Notre Dame’s Dillon Hall.

A.N. Myer Marauders scored 31 points in the third quarter en route to a 77-55 win over Denis Morris Redmen and Notre Dame Fightin’ Irish grinded out a 59-38 win over Eden Flyers in the second of two championship round semi-finals Friday.

Myer and Notre Dame will play in the championship game Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

They met in the 60th anniversary tournament championship in 2015, won by Notre Dame 54-40. They also met in the tournament championship game in 2008, 2009 and 2011.

On the consolation side of the bracket, Centennial Cougars got by Thorold Golden Eagles and E. L. Crossley Cyclone defeated Ridgeway-Crystal Beach Blue Devils setting the stage for a Cougars-Cyclone matchup in the consolation championship, set for 5:30 p.m. in Dillon Hall.
