WELLAND – Owenpalooza 2016 is on Saturday July 23 at Club Richelieu, Welland.

 HEAT ALERT, HUMIDEX TO APPROACH 40!

WELLAND – A Heat Warning is in effect for: Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region; St. Catharines – Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region

A hot and humid air mass will continue to affect the regions today. Maximum temperatures will be near 30 degrees and Maximum humidex values will approach 40 again today. Shower or thunderstorm activity could bring relief at times to some places. Some locales along the shores of the Great Lakes will see temperatures a few degrees lower during this event. A cooler air mass will arrive by Friday.

Heat illnesses include heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat fainting, heat edema (swelling of hands, feet and ankles), heat rash and heat cramps (muscle cramps). Frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated. Never leave people or pets in your care inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.  TORONTO FC HOSTS WELLAND SOCCER CLUB DAY

WELLAND –Mayor Frank Campion is leading a contingent of Welland soccer kids on to the Toronto FC field as the club celebrates Welland Soccer Club day on Saturday, July 23.

In Toronto FC’s desire to boost soccer across the Niagara Region, a portion of Toronto FC ticket sales is being donated to the Welland Soccer Club. Just before the team hosts DC United in the 730 pm game against DC United, Mayor Campion and 20 youth soccer players from Welland (to be selected) will carry Toronto FC banners on to the field.

ECOLOGY RETREAT
