Warnings

9:16 PM EST Saturday 11 February 2017
Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region
  • St. Catharines – Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region

A few hours of freezing rain likely overnight and Sunday morning.

A developing low pressure system is expected to bring the threat of some freezing rain into portions of southwestern Ontario after midnight and into Sunday morning. Any freezing rain is expected to change to snow Sunday afternoon.

Current information suggests that the most likely locations to receive several hours of freezing rain include London, Woodstock, Brantford, and Hamilton.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.cpio-tempetes-ospc-storms.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
