Rebuffed once, should another effort be made to have the Welland-Crowland War Memorial declared a national historic site? The memorial, in Welland’s Chippawa Park, is the site of Legion Branch 4’s Remembrance Day ceremony, Sunday, November 5 starting at 1:45pm. This plaque was unveiled at the memorial’s historic designation by the Welland Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (LACAC) on Saturday, September 11, 1999 by the Governor General. Our memorial is recognized as a nationally significant piece of Canadian sculpture, the design of Toronto artist Elizabeth Wyn Wood. (File photos/Joe Barkovich)
