Those Ubiquitous Little Signs

What better reminder of the annual city-wide food drive than the signs that popped up across the city this week. The Martin family of Regional Glass and Mirror has been in charge of the signs for years, said food drive co-ordinator Monique Finley. They put them out, collect them, clean them and store them in their facility here in Welland. Said Finley: “I believe the signs and the awareness the signs create are THE most important component of the food drive marketing plan. Cathy and Wayne Martin and their family are as dependable and generous with their time and money as a family can get. They are unwavering supporters of the Hope Centre where their daughter Samantha works. The impact that this family has had on helping and feeding the needy is unbelievable! And again, they are silent soldiers, unsung heroes, working tirelessly and relentlessly.” Welland residents are asked to put food donations outside their front doors by 10 a.m. this Saturday. Shortly after that some 80+ teams of people will scour the streets, collecting the food donated. /Joe Barkovich photos.
